Cisco Proximity is an application for Android devices that allows users to connect to video conferences from smartphones or tablets. The utility is an official mobile client developed by a well-known company of the same name.
Requirements
For correct operation, the application must be granted access to the microphone. It allows the utility to receive an ultrasonic signal from a nearby Cisco video system. This permission is necessary to start pairing your mobile device with a video endpoint.
The ultrasonic signal contains a special token, which is decoded by the application. A secure connection to the video system is then established. Thus, users are able to view, control and capture various content from the conference.
Please note that this utility is not compatible with all video endpoints. The following models are supported: Cisco SX10, MX200 G2, MX800, and more. They must have Collaboration Endpoint Software 8.0 installed.
Opportunities
The application provides the ability to view and save content. You can watch both previously posted and current elements of the video conference. It is possible to download PowerPoint slides to your device.
This utility also allows you to manage calls, search for video addresses in the directory or enter them.
Notes
Please note that the application is not active at the moment. The developers have stopped supporting it. Cisco Systems created a new Webex utility that provides all of the above plus new functions.
