Before starting to use the application, every member is required to register an account. In order to do that, the phone number has to be verified via OTP code.

eMATHI’s main objective is to provide a comprehensive hub that modernizes the way Indian self-help groups operate and evolve. It offers three aspects for empowering people in need.
Digital empowerment gives e-learning opportunities to the SHGs women based on the prefered career path. This includes courses and live classes. It is possible to find a job using apna after graduation.
Financial empowerment actively involves banks and other microfinance institutions to help SHG members with verification and disbursement processes. eMATHI Money allows women to manage and freely transact their funds within the iMahila ecosystem.
Social empowerment helps women to connect with other SHGs in the country as well as their mentors and experts across the world. The app also offers live channels where issues and concerns can be sorted out online.
