MakerBot is an Android application that allows you to manage a 3D printer of the same name. This utility is the official mobile companion for this device. With its help, you can fully control the entire model-creating process and work with digital projects.
Getting started
This app requires registration. To create an account, you need to visit the web resource of the same name.
At the start, you have to select any digital 3D model from the MakerBot cloud library. You can also use the Thingiverse website or the application of the same name.
The web resources mentioned above contain a huge selection of different models developed by both 3D printing professionals and the users’ community. You can choose any item and download its digital 3D project.
Printing
This utility refers to the MakerBot cloud servers in order to scale, optimize your model and cut it into layers for further printing. As soon as the project is processed, you have to select the printer with which the app is synchronized and press the Print button.
Then you can monitor the operation of the device and control it. It is possible to stop, cancel and start printing remotely. To do this, your gadget must be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
It should be noted that the device needs to be calibrated at the start. It is also desirable to install the latest software.
Remark
Unfortunately, the application is not active at the moment. The developers have stopped supporting it. Nevertheless, the MakerBot and Thingiverse web platforms continue their work.
