Android Podcast is an application for Android that allows you to play the latest episodes from your favorite shows, explore podcast recommendations, and manage your listening activity. This utility is integrated with both Google Assistant and Google Home.
Interface
The app’s interface is minimalist and easy to navigate. There are three tabs: Home, Explore, and Activity. At the start, your home screen is blank with a prompt to add your favorites. After subscribing and listening to podcasts, your home page changes to show more targeted recommendations based on your activity.
The Explore tab has a search bar as well as categories such as culture, news, comedy, and technology. In the Activity section, you can see your queue, podcasts you have downloaded for offline listening, your history, and subscriptions.
Options
One of the key options of Android Podcast is the ability to download episodes for offline listening. This feature is primarily intended for those who want to listen to their favorite podcasts on the go.
In addition, syncing of podcasts across devices is available. Thus, you can start listening to episodes on your phone during your commute, and then continue where you left off on your laptop when you get home.
Android Podcast also supports voice commands, thanks to its integration with Google Assistant. It is possible to play a specific podcast, listen to the latest episode of a series, skip to the next one, pause playback, and even ask what is currently playing.
