BBC News is an Android application that allows you to read and watch the latest global news. Here it is also possible to personalize the news feed by adding and sorting different topics to suit your interests.
How to get started
At the first launch of the application, you will need to log in to your account or create a new one.
Navigation
The interface of the application is extremely simple. There are four main tabs, including Top Stories, My News, Popular and Video.
The Top Stories page contains the latest and most discussed articles as well videos of the day. Moreover, there are newspaper headlines and analyses from well-known experts. You can also delve into the topic with the help of suggestions related to each story.
There is the My news section that allows you to personalize your news feed. It is possible to add topics you care about by clicking on the corresponding icon. Then you can sort stories by tags or time. The app may also offer articles based on your current location. And last but not least, there is an offline mode, if you want to download and read articles later.
The utility includes a page that suggests the most read articles and popular videos, updated regularly throughout the day.
In addition, there is a section containing the Live BBC News channel which is available only in the UK. It broadcasts news 24-hours a day with the most interesting and relevant videos related to various topics.
Settings
You can change the layout mode and text size as well as get access to assistive technology. This means you have an option to choose whether the video will be played via 3G or WiFi. It is also possible to adjust notification settings, widget and background update frequency.
Additionally, the application contains a built-in guide if any questions arise.
