Bhuvan is an application for Android devices developed by Indian Space Research Organisation. It is a 3D satellite imagery tool that represents the surface of the Earth.
Functionality
This application is a mobile client of the eponymous geoportal made by Indian Space Research Organisation. Being the analog of Google Maps, the platform allows users to explore a 3D representation of the surface of the Earth. Here you will find a set of map-based content.
Bhuvan offers detailed imagery of Indian locations with spatial resolutions ranging up to 1 meter. These high-quality datasets are available for 177 cities at the moment. Meanwhile, the rest of the country is in the range of up to 2.5 meters.
The content includes thematic maps related to disasters, agriculture, water resources, land cover and processed satellite data. You can also add layers with cadastral boundaries, cities population, settlements location and much more. In addition, there are virtual 3D tours with 360 degrees panoramas, just like in Google Street View.
Important remark
It is worth mentioning that the application is made for India and, thus, can only be accessed from there. It is also necessary to allow permission to your location.
