BOM Weather is an Android application developed by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. The utility provides users with detailed information about current weather conditions as well as forecasts for the next 72 hours and 7 days.
Forecasts
At the start, you need to select a location manually or set it automatically using GPS navigation. On the home page of the application, the current weather is displayed:
- temperature, including minimum and maximum;
- humidity and rainfall range;
- wind speed and direction;
- “feels like” temperature.
Also, you can view a more detailed forecast for the next 72 hours. It is possible to select units of measure.
Moreover, there is a forecast for the next week, in which, in addition to the above parameters, you can find:
- fire danger rating;
- time of sunrise and sunset;
- moon phases;
- UV index.
Further, users may view the forecast of the situation on the water, including wind, swell, and tides.
Additional options
Additionally, there is information about the past weather for the previous 72 hours. There is a separate tab with a radar rain map. It can be scaled and viewed in layers.
Another section warns about changes in weather conditions and emergency situations, including fires, cyclones, thunderstorms, floods, abnormal heat, and so on. The application sends notifications to users about all such cases.
