FoxFi is an Android application which allows you to turn your smartphone or tablet into a hotspot. Please note that you do not need superuser rights to use the utility.
Creating an access point
First, it is necessary to activate the corresponding mode on the main page in order to enable the WiFi hotspot. You can create your own network name and secure the connection with a password. FoxFi uses the WPA2 security protocol. This means that the created wireless network will be almost impossible to hack. Moreover, you are recommended to set a complex password combination.
Unlike Open Garden, the app also allows you to share the internet from your smartphone via Bluetooth. It is possible to use this feature if the second device does not have a WiFi adapter.
Data usage
It should be noted that when you activate the access point and connect other devices, mobile internet traffic will be actively consumed. You are advised to check your cellular plan settings before using the app. However, the free version has a certain limit on the duration of the connection. The hotspot turns off automatically every hour. You can purchase a premium subscription for additional functions.
