Purpose
The app is a technological advancement designed to facilitate quicker entry into the US for Global Entry members. It allows travelers to report their arrival at any supported airport. Thus, bypassing the need to use a stationary kiosk.
Process
To use the app, you need to select your arrival airport from a list. Then you have to submit a photo of yourself for verification by CBP. This procedure should be executed within the confines of the terminal to ensure authenticity. Once the submission is successful, you receive a digital receipt which you need to present to a Global Entry officer.
Should you encounter any difficulties in obtaining a receipt through the app, you can simply revert to the traditional method. It involves using one of the available Global Entry portals at the airport or CBP One. This ensures a backup plan in case of technical issues.
Important note
It is crucial to note that Global Entry does not serve as a platform for enrollment into the program. Its primary function is to expedite the entry process for existing members. Those not yet enrolled can opt for the Mobile Passport Control app instead.
