M1 Finance is an Android application that aims to make long-term investing simpler and more accessible. You can create a “pie” representing your desired asset allocation.
Overview
The app employs the principle of portfolio visualization through a “Pie” structure. This means that your portfolio is depicted as a pie chart, where each segment corresponds to a particular asset such as a stock, ETF, or another pie.
Investment automation
When you input your capital, M1 Finance allocates the funds in accordance with the pre-set pie configuration. If funds are withdrawn or market shifts alter the portfolio’s balance, the platform reallocates the assets according to the specified allocation in the pie.
The utility provides additional financial tools beyond its primary investment functions. The M1 Borrow feature allows eligible users to access loans using their portfolios as collateral. In the meantime, M1 Spend facilitates a checking account functionality. Thus, allowing for direct expenditures, a debit card provision, and select cash-back opportunities.
Similar to Freetrade, the platform lets you engage in trades without incurring transaction fees. It also integrates fractional share trading, allowing you to purchase portions of a stock rather than a full share.
