NETGEAR Genie is a mobile application for Android devices that allows you to configure eponymous routers and home wireless networks. It is possible to set guest access and parental control as well as analyze traffic.
Compatibility
Please note that this application is not compatible with all Netgear routers. It supports cable devices, DSL modems as well as WNR2000, WNDR3400, and earlier models. For more modern gadgets, you need to download other Netgear series utilities.
Options
On the main page of the app, there are icons that are responsible for its main functions. Here users can manage a Wi-Fi network, as well as set guest access and parental control for selected devices.
It is also possible to analyze traffic and measure it. Users may view graphs and charts for various periods of time.
The app allows you to build a map of a wireless network. It will display all devices connected with detailed information about them.
Users can set up media server access. It is possible to transfer various files wirelessly. There is an option to broadcast audio and video from a smartphone or tablet anywhere in the network.
You can find a separate tab that displays folders with media files. The application has a built-in QR code scanner. It allows you to connect other smartphones or tablets to your home network with the technology EZ Mobile Connect.
Note
Please note that the application will only work if the user’s smartphone is connected to a Netgear device, which operates in router mode but not as a hotspot.
