PainChek is an Android application that helps to analyze the level of pain of elderly patients. The utility is official. It can only be used by registered clients who are healthcare professionals or family caregivers, unlike VA. Authorization is possible via organizations that have the appropriate license.
Purposes
The application is primarily designed to assess the level of pain of elderly patients, especially those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Accordingly, it is possible to determine the condition of people with communication difficulties.
How it works
This utility uses artificial intelligence technology for face recognition to identify micro-expressions indicating the presence of pain. To do this, you need to take a picture of the patient using a smartphone camera.
In addition, the caregiver has to fill out a questionnaire, indicating additional information:
- the person’s behavior;
- movements;
- voice;
- activity;
- other bodily symptoms.
PainChek analyzes the received data and determines the level of pain on a digital scale. It allows you to quickly provide assistance to the patient.
Moreover, the application builds a graph of pain.
Additionally
A healthcare professional or caregiver can create a list of their patients and track the status of each one. It is possible to control the intake of medications, remind about therapy, and view a list of appointments.
