Plantify is an Android application designed for plant identification using the smartphone camera.
Recognition
To identify a plant, you have to allow the app access to the camera of your device.
After pointing the camera at a plant and pressing the search button, the application will provide the botanical name within 10 seconds. During testing of the app, Plantify algorithms successfully identified three out of three specimens.
Identified plants can be added to a personal list. Users can create a catalog of indoor plants in their apartment or outdoor plants in the garden.
For searching and identifying other objects in the house, users can try out Google Lens.
Diagnostic
The application is capable of assessing the condition of a plant based on a photograph. If the flower is unhealthy, users will be provided with care and treatment advice.
Plant diagnostic features are available only to subscribers. The premium cost is $7.83 per week or $44.79 per year.
However, the plant identification and cataloging options are available for free.
How It Works
Developers have successfully implemented an algorithm that continuously improves itself. Users upload new plant photos daily, and the algorithm learns from them, enriching the database.
