SafeUT is an Android application that allows users to contact a licensed counselor in the event of a crisis. The service is primarily aimed at students, their parents or guardians and teachers.
Immediate support
The utility gives students the opportunity to get help from crisis counselors. It is a safe and non-judgmental space where children can share their problems. This can include talking about depression, suicidal thoughts, bullying, difficulties in relationships with loved ones and much more.
SafeUT is staffed by counselors from the Huntsman Institute of Mental Health. Support is available 24 hours a day. Specialists will listen to the problem, offer support and help you find ways to deal with a difficult situation.
If the crisis involves a school or college, the specialist will share information with teachers with the child’s consent. These are designed to ensure a safe environment for all children.
If you have no one to talk to or you are looking for people with similar difficulties, then you can download TalkLife. The application provides access to a community that offers psychological support.
Chat and helpline
SafeUT allows you to get in touch with a counselor quickly. The home page has a button to call or send messages. You can choose the most appropriate option. Communication remains confidential. Moreover, the app is password-protected so that no one can access the data.
It should be noted that this utility is only relevant for residents of the state of Utah.
