Skysafari is an Android application with a dynamic astronomy database. The utility allows you to learn more about objects in the night starry sky.
Like Skyview, the app contains information about galaxies, stars and the solar system, including comets and asteroids. The information is current and provided by the Hubble Guide Star catalog.
Skysafari automatically detects your location upon launch and allows you to use the built-in compass. You have an option to adjust the time yourself by opening the appropriate tab. Similar to augmented reality software, you should point your smartphone at the sky or under your feet for the app to detect space objects around.
The utility shows the stars as dots, the constellations are displayed as lines. It is possible to zoom and center the picture as well as view detailed information about the objects.
Skysafari contains recommendations for the current time of day for observing objects in the night sky. For example, the rising and setting of planets, according to the current location. You can configure notifications of bright satellites and flares. You may limit the alerts by prohibiting the utility from disturbing during rest hours.
The work of the application is accompanied by audio effects and sound background. It can be turned off or selected from a list of options such as birds, summer night, crickets, meadow and Pluto.
