VithU is an application for Android developed in collaboration with Channel V Gumrah initiative. This utility is designed to help Indian women in emergency situations.
Getting started
At the start, you need to give the application some permissions, including access to contacts and geolocation. It is necessary for the utility to determine where you are and send an emergency message to chosen contacts.
Emergency messages and alerts
This simple safety app can be activated by pressing the power button of a device twice. All emergency contacts on your device will then be alerted with the SOS message. It keeps getting sent every two minutes with your updated location. Prior to this, you need to create a list of trusted contacts within the utility, just like in SafeNow.
This app also comes with a Tips Feed where you can find safety recommendations during an emergency situation. Also, the developers offer an option called Submit Story. The users can send their stories to Gumrah about their experience of VithU.
One of the most important options of this app is that users can activate the SOS button with a voice command even when the phone is not in their hands. This reduces reaction time and helps alert the guardians quickly.
