MyShake is an Android application that allows residents of the US states of Washington, California, and Oregon to receive earthquake notifications. The utility is developed by the Laboratory of Seismology at the University of California at Berkeley.
Interface
This service works with the support of the Office of Emergency Management. The application interface is available in English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Filipino.
Map and warnings
At the start, users need to register indicating an email address, some personal data, and a place of residence. It is also desirable to enable GPS navigation. The application has a built-in map that displays current earthquakes with an estimated magnitude of 4.5 and above. Alerts are sent when an event could be potentially destructive.
Users can share information if they felt shake. It is possible to describe its strength and also indicate the location where the earthquake was registered.
There is a separate tap where all shakes that occurred over the last selected period of time are displayed. You can view their magnitude, time, and place.
Security
Moreover, the utility contains useful security tips. Users can learn how to behave during an earthquake and prepare for it.
