Raiffeisen PhotoTAN is an application for Android devices that provides customers of the eponymous Swiss bank with a secure login, similar to UBS Access. The utility is official and created as a tool to replace the SMS service.
How to use
To correctly apply this app, Raiffeisen e-banking clients need to activate PhotoTAN as a login method in their account settings.
Using this service is extremely easy. The e-banking system encodes information about the entry or transaction in the form of a colored mosaic. The app takes a picture of it using the camera of the mobile device and then decodes it. Next, a six-digit code appears on the screen to enter the system or to confirm transactions.
If you use the Raiffeisen Mobile Banking application, then PhotoTAN automatically transfers the code to it. Thus, it does not need to enter digits manually. Please note that for this operation there is no need to use a network connection.
Result
As a result, you can no longer use the login and transaction confirming method via SMS code. The information encoding using colored mosaics is considered safer for electronic banking.
